On this budget camping safari expect to stay in public campsites, located inside the park or on private campsites on the outskirts. The tents are big enough for two people and they have built-in nets to keep the bugs away. The facilities are fairly basic.
In the morning you will be picked up at your accommodation in Arusha by your guide and drive towards the Lake Manyara National Park, nestled in the Rift Valley, which includes much of Lake Sodas. Flamingos and many other waterfowl are at home here. Hippos, elephants, buffaloes, monkeys, zebra gangs, various gazelles, and antelopes can be seen on the lake shores and in the green belt of the forest. Until late afternoon you go on extensive game drives. Keep an eye on the treetops – with a bit of luck you might spot lions climbing on trees from time to time. Dinner and Overnight at Kudu Campsite.
Travel on from Karatu to Serengeti National Park and enjoy a game drive and picnic lunch en-route. Continue to your campsite on your first Serengeti game drive, keeping an eye out for the hoofed animals and predators that call this place home. Tonight you’ll have a true African safari experience under the starry sky, camping in an unfenced site within the national park, right in the heart of the animal action. Ngorongoro is a World Heritage site, the highlight of which is the Ngorongoro Crater, a gigantic volcanic caldera that you’ll visit tomorrow in search of the Big Five – lion, leopards, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.
