What to Expect

On this epic journey through Tanzania expects to see two facets of the wildlife with varied experiences. The landscape of the Tanzania northern circuit, with rich wildlife, differs from that of the western circuit. While there are roads in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara National Park, there are no roads in Mahale National Park, only forest paths through the lush vegetation. Mahale is a haven for primates, with chimpanzee trekking one of the prime reasons for visits.

  • The best time to easily see Chimps is during the dry season from August to October.
  • Getting to the park is an adventure as it is accessible only by air and boat.
  • By light aircraft it takes four or five hours to reach here from Dar es Salaam or Arusha.
