During a 5-day road safari to Kilwa and Nyerere National Park, you can expect a variety of experiences that will immerse you in the natural beauty and rich history of the region.
Pickup from Dar es Salaam and drive to the historical town of Kilwa boasting brilliant beaches and historical cultural ruins. The drive will take about 4 to 5 hours. Kilwa District is bordered to the east by the Indian Ocean and to the west by Nyerere National Park part of Selous Game Reserve. In the evening you can go on Sunset Cruise in the Indian Ocean.

This morning you will take a dhow trip from Kilwa Masoko to Kilwa Kisiwani, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981. It was the capital of the influential Medieval sultanate, Kilwa Sultanate. Kilwa Kisiwani is one of the renowned historic tourist destinations in Tanzania, housing many landmark historic structures, including the Great Mosque and the Mkutini Palace.

This morning depart from Kilwa Masoko and drive to Nyerere National Park (Selous), upon arrival you check in your Camp. In the late evening at around 15:45hrs, go for an adventurous boat safari through the mighty Rufiji River. Get close to hippos and crocodiles beneath you and tick off unique bird sightings.

This morning after breakfast your guide will take you for a full-day game drive, taking a lunch break in between. Your day will be filled with joy, exploring the park’s wildlife from your seat on an open-sided or open-roofed vehicle. You may expect to see many African mammals, including elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo, zebra, and even the rare African wild dog.

Early morning after a cup of tea or coffee at 6:30 you will have a 2-hour bush/nature walk with a bushman which will offer you an opportunity to observe and learn some fascinating facts about nature, birds, reptiles, insects, and medicinal uses of local plants, which you may not see while seating of your safari vehicle.
At 8:30 you will drive back to the Camp where you will have a full breakfast and after checkout, you’ll drive back to Dar es Salaam. We can either drop you off at your Hotel or take you to the airport for your flight back home.
