7-Day Safari, Mikumi, Udzungwa & Ruaha | Fly-out to Zanzibar

After breakfast at around 6:30, depart from Dar es Salaam for a scenic 6 to 7-hour journey to Mikumi National Park, passing through Chalinze and Morogoro, and soaking in Tanzania’s stunning landscapes and landmarks. Enjoy a hot lunch along the way. Upon arriving at Mikumi National Park, take a short break at the Camp before setting out on a 1 to 2-hour Maasai Cultural tour, providing a unique cultural experience. Later, return to the Camp for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay.

This morning, after breakfast, depart for Udzungwa National Park which forms the Eastern Arc Mountains, known for its unique biodiversity. The park is home to many endemic species of plants and animals that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. It is a great destination for hiking and nature seeking. The popular Sanje Waterfalls hike will reward you with breathtaking views. Another popular trail is the Prince Bernhard Waterfall Trail, known for its picturesque scenery and diverse wildlife sightings.

For a more challenging hike, you can try the Mwanihana Peak Trail, which takes you to the summit of Mwanihana Peak for panoramic views of the surrounding area. You will also appreciate the chance to see rare species such as the Udzungwa red colobus monkey and the Iringa red colobus, as well as a variety of birds and butterflies.

After breakfast drive to Ruaha National Park which is famous for its rare sable antelope, roan antelope, and big herds of Elephant. Ruaha is an extensive ecosystem, which includes the Rungwa Game Reserve, Usangu Game Reserve, and several other protected areas. The park forms a border between Africa’s eastern and southern ecosystems.

The park is believed to have a higher concentration of elephants than any other national park in East Africa. The park is also a habitat for endangered wild dogs. Other animals in the park include lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, elands, impalas, bat-eared foxes, and jackals.
