What to Expect

Expect to see lots of wildlife and stunning landscapes when you’re on a safari in Nyerere National Park. This park has the largest concentration of elephants in Tanzania and 430 bird species whose livelihood is the mighty Rufiji River, the largest in East Africa.

  • Nyerere National Park has been established in year 2019 and cover an area of over 30,000 square kilometers.
  • The park is located in south Eastern Tanzania, roughly 270 kilometers by road from Dar es Salaam to Mtemere Gate.
Itinerary

Day 1Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park

In the morning you will meet your driver-guide and after the briefing, you will start driving to Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve) arriving in time for a hot lunch. In the afternoon you’ll go for an adventurous boat safari on the Rufiji River where you’ll see hippos, and crocodiles and tick off a variety of bird species.

Overnight at Nyerere Tented Camp

Meal (s): Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 2Full Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park

This morning after breakfast you’ll have a full day of game viewing in Nyerere National Park. This will be a special day spent exploring the wilderness and viewing diverse wildlife which includes lions, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, elephants, wild dog and so much more. You will take your lunch within a park’s boundaries while observing the amazing wildlife and spectacular landscapes of this park.

Overnight at Nyerere Tented Camp

Day 3Nyerere National Park to Dar es Salaam

This morning after breakfast you will start driving back to Dar es Salaam and you will be transferred to your Hotel or the airport and catch a flight back home.

Good to Know

For Group Safari

Group sizes range anywhere between 2 and 7 people per vehicle. We will spilt the group into two or more vehicles if the number exceed the range. Our safari vehicles each have sliding windows and a large pop-up roof, perfect for wildlife viewing. The vehicle will allow us to maneuver easily through the wildlife areas.

For Private Safari

All prices are per person sharing a double room, prices for single rooms on request.
Prices depend on the number of travelers.

Luggage Restrictions

  • Luggage is restricted to one large bag / rucksack weighing no more than 15 kg. Furthermore, every traveler is allowed one piece of hand luggage.
  • Due to the limited space in the vehicle, we kindly ask guests to refrain from travelling with suitcases as storing them in the vehicle could prove a problem. Please also do not forget to check the baggage allowances of your respective airlines.
