Covering an area of 2,850 km², Tarangire National Park derived its name from the Tarangire River which flows through the park, attracting elephants and many other animals. The park features large numbers of games, particularly during the dry season, when the Tarangire River is the only source of water in the area. The landscape is dotted with lush grasslands studded with ancient baobabs and sun-baked termite hills
