Itinerary

Day 1Airport Pickup

Welcome to Arusha! We’ll be there to collect you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you to Meru View Lodge or a related lodge for the overnight. There will be a pre-departure briefing after arrival.

Day 2Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

In the morning at 7:30, we start our great expedition from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. This beautiful park is at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and comprises a large flock of flamingos, groundwater forest, acacia woodlands, open grasslands, and the shore of the soda lake – Lake Manyara.

In the late afternoon will depart to Karatu town which offers magnificent views over the surrounding hills and has many well-established wheat farms that add to the picturesque vistas.

Day 3Lake Manyara to Lake Eyasi

From Manyara, you will head southwestwards towards Lake Eyasi.  This is a huge soda lake that surpasses Lake Manyara in size, and the saline border extends and shrinks depending on the amount of rain that has fallen over the year.

Day 4Lake Eyasi to Karatu

Early morning depart to the village for a local hunting experience with Hadzabe and Datonga tribes. Return to the camp for a late breakfast. After Breakfast you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer Bushmen) for other activities including a visit to their homesteads, learning about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Canoeing and fishing expeditions are also possible. In the late afternoon we depart to Karatu.

Day 5Lake Eyasi to Ngorongoro Crater

Early in the morning after breakfast, we depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation area and head into the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater. This World Heritage Site boasts some of the best game viewing in Africa – including the elusive Black Rhino.

Day 6Ngorongoro Crater to Central Serengeti

This morning drive to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a spectacular area with panoramic views over the crater hundreds of meters below. An optional visit to a Maasai Boma is a great chance to experience how semi-nomadic communities continue to live according to their age-old traditions.

Day 7Central Serengeti

This park is undoubtedly Tanzania’s most famous. Great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle are resident at any time of the year.

Day 8Central to North Serengeti

This morning we drive to North Serengeti, home to the enormous migratory herds during the dry season (July to September), and stay at Lobo Area. From here it’s about 30 km (35 minutes) further north to the Tented Lodge “Bologonja under Canvas” and 35 km to the East for “Mara under Canvas”. Highlights include the Great Migration crossing the Mara River and Big cat viewing in ancient Lobo Valley.

Day 9North Serengeti

Full game drive following the Great Migration and after sunset game drives heading to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 10North Serengeti to Lake Natron

Early morning after breakfast drive from Lobo Area all the way to Lake Natron arriving late afternoon and going for evening Lake Natron walk for sunset if time permits.

Day 11Lake Natron to Tarangire National Park

The outlet Lake Natron is the home of a remarkable variety of birds, in particular about 2.5 million dwarf flamingos. The area around Lake Natron is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled regions in Africa. Highlights include the Main breeding site for lesser flamingoes and an amazing ‘martian-like’ landscape. You will take a hike to the lake and later visit the nearby waterfall and late evening head to Tarangire National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 12Tarangire to Arusha

This will be the final day with the full game drive in Tarangire National Park. In the evening you will drive back to Arusha.
