The park hosts a lot of migratory big game and small animals but also a lot of bird life including some very rare and almost indigenous only to this park like the Ashy Starlings. Other rare animals include the oryx and the gerenuk. A range of other common animals that can be spotted include, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, impalas, dik diks, leopards, gazelles, elands, hartebeests and many others. Cheetahs are rarely found. You will spend the night at Kudu Camp Karatu or related Camp
This morning you’ll descend to the Ngorongoro’s crater floor for a day excursion. The ngorongoro Crater is often referred to as the “Noah’s Ark” due to its high density of animals and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater consists of a saline lake, marsh, plains and forest and hosts a population of 25,000 animals – including wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, hyenas and leopards. The crater also offers an insight into the life of the local population: outside the crater, the Maasai people and their herds of cattle live in a protected area. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch in the crater, you will return to Arusha, where you will arrive in the early evening.
