A possible day trip to Ngorongoro Crater from Arusha is worth a visit as it offers an opportunity to discover the world’s largest unbroken caldera which hosts varieties of animals including the “Big Five” – Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, and rare black Rhino. The other animals that can be seen include Zebra, Hippo, Wildebeest, Hyena, and many more. The Crater is also a Bird’s paradise as it includes flamingos on the Soda lake, Geese, Storks, Vultures, and more other bird families. The carter is roughly 180km or 110 miles west of Arusha in Northern Tanzania.

On this trip expect to see large mammals including Grant’s zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, wildebeest, eland, hyena, elephants, cape buffalo, and lions. The majority of the landscape of the crater is a large grassy plain, so spotting wildlife is super easy. Despite the rich wildlife, the leopards are rarely seen, and no giraffes.
In the morning at around 05h30, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and drive you to Ngorongoro Crater taking a packed lunch for your day game drive. The drive will take about 3 to 4 hours on a 190 km tarmac road to Ngorongoro Conservation Entry Gate. From the gate, drive to the Crater Rim spend a few minutes for an awesome view of the Crater from the top, and descend into the crater floor for a game drive. Your picnic lunch will be served in the Crater picnic site at Ngoitokok swamp, a Hippo pool, after lunch Proceed with afternoon game viewing. You will return to Arusha in the late afternoon with a head full of memories and incredible photos to share with your friends and family.
